Pokagon State Park FISHING / ICE FISHING

Visitors to Pokagon State Park can enjoy fishing and/or ice fishing for bass, bluegill, walleye, crappie, catfish, northern pike, and more in Lake James. For fishing at Pokagon State Park a state fishing license is required (see below).

Fishing boat rentals (and other boat rentals) are available – make reservations at the Potawatomi Inn front desk. If you want to use your own boat, courtesy slips are also available, but there are no boat launching facilities.

Purchase a License Online

To purchase an Indiana state fishing license before arriving at Pokagon State Park, go to INHuntFish.com. You will need to create an Access Indiana account, if you don’t already have one. You will also need a printer to print your license. If you have problems using the website to purchase your license, call customer support for Access Indiana at 1-866-960-3023.

Purchase a License In Person

An Indiana state fishing license is required to fish at Pokagon State Park and can be acquired at the park office. One can also be purchased at various retailers throughout the state. Non-resident licenses are available at the park office or the DNR Customer Service Center:
