Trine State Recreation Area
Entry is free with your Pokagon State Park entry fee.
Pokagon State Park’s Trine SRA is a great place to spend a day. Explore the 200 acres of rolling wooded hills, open meadows, and unique wetlands. Pokagon State Park’s Trine SRA is home to a restored lakeside resort from yesteryear, as well as a new meeting and conference facility, making it the perfect place to stay for both business and pleasure.
There is a boating and fishing center too. So a visit to Trine SRA is something you should strongly consider.
Beechwood Nature Preserve
If you’re looking for a nature experience that’s a little off the beaten path, be sure to check out the Beechwood Nature Preserve. This 89-acre preserve is a unit of the ACRES Land Trust and is located on the east edge of the park. The 1.5-mile loop trail takes you over rolling hills and through thickets of gray dogwoods and remnants of an old apple orchard. From the loop, you can also take a short section of the trail to the Beechwood parking lot at State Road 127. And be sure to check out the boardwalk that traverses a lowland swamp – it’s rare yellow birch, red maple, blue beech and skunk cabbage!
